Positive start to the season for me

I was still pretty rusty after the winter and just one run out at Silverstone before this race meeting meant I was to encounter a lot of arm pump.

I managed to qualify 8th in the open capacity Buildbase Mallory Trophy and then got a decent start in the race where I was running 4th but due to being on a 600 the 1000’s were flying past me down the straights so it was really hard work. I ended the race in 6th position and got a little prize money so it was a great way to start the season.

Superstock 600 Race 1: I managed to lead from flag to flag and it was re-assuring to know that I’d done Ok first time out in the class.

Superstock 600 Race 2: I got into a good race with Ben Lightowler who is an MRO front runner but managed to get him a few laps from the end after some back and forth racing which was close but fair. I won again so two wins out of two in the Superstock 600 series meant I was championship leader. Only problem is that I’m on British Superbike duties for the second EMRA round so I’ll miss that one.

Formula 600: I entered the Formula class as well for the practice and managed to come away with two 3rd places just in front of Wayne Sutton and behind Steve Tomes and Michael Niblett.

Overall it was a positive start to the year. My times were down a fair bit from last year but I did quite well and was still very rusty plus it was only around 2 or 3 degrees on track so the tyres were not working at their optimum.

Roll on Brands for the first round of the BSB!
